Eating multiple small portions a day speeds up metabolism rates. The idea is to constantly be digesting something.
Fastest Way to Lose Weight
To speed up your metabolism, you should split your 3 daily meals into 5 or 6 smaller meals of about 300 cal. each. You could also drink green tea, it naturally speeds up your metabolism. Also, when you do your cardio, instead of doing one big block of say 60 min, do two 30 minute sections with a 15 minute break in between because that first half-hour will keep your metabolism revving through the break.

One of the major keys to speeding up your metabolism is to eat often. If your body gets hungry, your metabolism slows down and it makes your body start storing fat whenever you eat again, thinking that you are going to ’starve’ it again. In order to keep your metabolism going, you need to eat every 2-3 hours. Never go more then 4 hours with out food. You don’t have to eat a lot or full meals, just snacks of about 100-200 calories between your meals. Also, make sure that you are getting a good balance of protein, “good” carbs (veggies/beans/ect) and other carbs (breads/rice/fruits/ect) at your meals. It’s not about a diet, it’s a change in the way you eat.

If you’re still exercising then hopefully you should be able to gradually increase your calories without starting to put on the weight, ie increase your metabolism. But make sure the calories come from protein and veggies/salads and not from carby foods like sugar, sugary drinks, cookies, potato snacks etc or the ‘bad’ fats such as transfats.
For more detail on why it’s crucial to eat enough protein, and not to drastically reduce your calories long term if you want to keep your metabolism up, see my article at.

Want to lose weight?
Do not starve your self(it never works, although that’s the first thought that crosses anyone’s mind when thinking to lose weight)Eat small, healthy meals frequently. Five small-serving snacks per day is better than three hearty meals.Go slow. If you have already lost 5 or 6 pounds, give yourself a break then try to lose the next 5 pounds.
Here’s some other quick tips for you:
* Stuff vegetables like capsicum and zucchini with flavored fillings or minced chicken, white meat or fish. These are healthy and contain low fat.
* Learn how to make the family favorite recipes and make sure that fats, salt, and sugar are cut out. Substitute non-fat yogurt for cream, stir-fry without oil and use herbs and spices instead of salt to taste.
* Buy non-toasted muesli instead of the toasted ones. A plate of toasted muesli contains more fat than a plate of bacon and eggs.
* Warm water with just a squeeze of lemon juice before breakfast get the metabolism going for the day, this also help preventing constipation and is excellent for the skin.
* Drinking hot water instead of cold water in the morning can increase the speed of your metabolism and burn more calories.
If you have started losing weight, just remember it’s a question of will. Keep doing what your’re doing, stay away from junk food and sodas, and you will feel more healthier and alive than never before.
